Designing Nudge Agents that Promote Human Altruism

چکیده
Previous studies have found that nudging is key to promoting altruism in human-human interaction. However, social robotics, there still a lack of study on confirming the effect altruism. In this paper, we apply two nudge mechanisms, peak-end and multiple viewpoints, video stimulus performed by robots (virtual agents) see whether subtle change can promote human An experiment was conducted online through crowd sourcing with 136 participants. The result shows participants who watched peak part set at end better Dictator game, which means mechanism actually promoted

Biofilms promote altruism.
The origin of altruism is a fundamental problem in evolution, and the maintenance of biodiversity is a fundamental problem in ecology. These two problems combine with the fundamental microbiological question of whether it is always advantageous for a unicellular organism to grow as fast as possible. The common basis for these three themes is a trade-off between growth rate and growth yield, whi...
متن کاملDesigning Human-Centered Autonomous Agents
Human-centered automation (HCA) maximizes the goals of humans by supporting a full range of interactions between humans and autonomous systems. The key goal of this research is to minimize the necessity for human interaction, but maximize the capability to interact. Within HCA we de ne adjustable autonomy as the ability of autonomous systems to operate with dynamically varying levels of indepen...
متن کاملExpanding the Nudge : Designing Choice Contexts and Choice
To nudge is to design choice contexts in order to improve choice outcomes. Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein emphatically endorse nudging but reject more restrictive means. In contrast, I argue that the behavioral psychology that motivates nudging also motivates what may be called jolting—i.e. the design of choice content. I defend nudging and jolting by distinguishing them from the sometimes op...

It will not be possible to apply exactly the same teaching process to the machine as to a normal child. It will not, for instance, be provided with legs, so that it could not be asked to go out and fill the coal scuttle. Possibly it might not have eyes. But however well these deficiencies might be overcome by clever engineering, one could not send the creature to school without the other childr...
متن کاملNudge to Health: Harnessing Decision Research to Promote Health Behavior
We review selected literature that examines how biases in decision making can be utilized to encourage individual health behavior, such as vaccination, and promote policy decisions, such as resource allocation. These studies use simple interventions to nudge people towards more optimal health decisions without restricting decision-makers’ freedom of choice. Examples include framing effects, def...
